Happy marriage anniversary Maa Asham, and Dad Ravindra

Today’s a day of celebration, the anniversary of the best thing that happened for me -
And it occurred even before i was born

They cradled me as I fought with hernia for long
Took turns to sleep, lapping me as my pain did prolong
Gave me a set of alphabets to play with as I learned with blocks
Laughed with my buddu and teased me with my buffur ka box

Went to school with me as I enrolled at Rosary
Rejoiced as a family, as in our lives entered a fairy
Grew me up in JK, and taught me a life of tashan
Took up the cudgels with the Hindi workbook prakashan

Helped me win the battles of classroom and playground
Instilled in me the importance of work and play all-round
Exposed me to exalted institutions of education and learning
And protected me from life pressures, as they became overbearing

Remained patient with me as I went through from one failure to another
Smiled on me, caressed me through, and told me not to bother
Smothered me with love, and took away my sadness and heartburns
Sacrificed their happiness, to anchor me through my life’s troughs and turns

Heartfelt my inner voice yearns to tell them today
There is no way I can do enough, Maa-Dad, to repay
The infinite love that you bestowed on me my entire life
Is the biggest blessing that came to me as a disguise.

Disguised as my parents, as you married this day, years ago
Unknown to you, bequeathed me two angels at one go
On your anniversary today, I wish you oodles of laughter and fun
And promise you, in coming years, I shall strive to be a deserving son

Love
Rahul
